Job Title: Mid-Level Structural Engineer
Role Summary
The Mid-Level Structural Engineer will support the design, analysis, and delivery of structural engineering projects across residential, commercial, and/or infrastructure sectors. The role involves independently carrying out design work, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to project delivery from concept through to construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake structural analysis and design for building and infrastructure projects in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
- Prepare detailed design calculations, technical reports, and specifications
- Produce and review structural drawings using software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Ensure compliance with Eurocodes, Irish/UK Building Regulations, and relevant standards
- Work closely with architects, civil engineers, MEP engineers, and contractors to coordinate design information
- Carry out site inspections and provide technical support during construction phases
- Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and method statements
- Identify and resolve design or construction-related technical issues
- Assist senior engineers and project managers in delivering projects on time and within budget
- Contribute to feasibility studies, concept design, and value engineering exercises
- Support junior engineers and graduates where required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (essential)
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (desirable)
- Actively working towards Chartered Engineer status (e.g. Engineers Ireland / ICE)
Skills & Experience
- 3–7 years’ experience in structural engineering consultancy or construction
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics and load path behavior
- Proficiency in structural design software (e.g. Robot Structural Analysis, ETABS, SAP2000, Tekla Structural Designer)
- Strong knowledge of Eurocodes and relevant national standards
- Competent in AutoCAD and/or Revit for structural detailing and coordination
- Ability to produce clear, accurate technical calculations and reports
- Experience working on building structures (residential, commercial, industrial preferred)
- Good understanding of BIM processes and coordinated design workflows
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage workload and deliver multiple projects simultaneously
Desirable Experience
- Experience in leading small project packages or design elements independently
- Exposure to site supervision or construction-stage services
- Familiarity with BIM Level 2 environments
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or interns
- Knowledge of sustainable design and low-carbon structural solutions
- Chartered Engineer (or near chartered status)
